The Importance of Trust
This past week, my husband went in for what we thought would be a routine outpatient procedure.
It wasn't.
A few unexpected complications turned a day surgery into an extended hospital stay. Like anyone would, my attention shifted immediately. Meetings disappeared from my calendar, emails could wait, and being with my husband was the only place I wanted to be. Then something happened that reminded me why I love our team.
Nothing.
Yep, the work kept moving and projects continued. Not because I was answering emails from a hospital room, but because the people around me simply stepped in. They knew what needed to be done and did it.
It reminded me that trust isn't built during quarterly meetings or team-building exercises. It's built over time through hundreds of small moments. It's keeping your word, stepping in without being asked, and caring about each other's success as much as your own.
The funny thing is, this isn't just true at work. The strongest friendships, families, and business relationships all have that one thing in common: you know they'll show up when life doesn't go according to plan.
Our KR Squared crew celebrates wins together, supports each other in the losses, and survives the occasional crazy deadline as a team. Fact is, those moments aren't separate from work. They're what make us a better team. Those moments build trust that allows someone to step away when life calls without worrying that everything will fall apart.
I'm incredibly grateful that my husband is recovering well, but I'm just as grateful for the people I get to work alongside every day. They gave me the freedom to focus on what mattered most, knowing they had everything else covered.
That's the kind of trust you can't fake, and it's the kind of team I'll never take for granted.
