Find the Perfect Fit
We’ve been in hiring mode lately, and it’s made me reflect.
At KR Squared, we’re not just building a team. We’re nurturing a culture. One that’s rooted in trust, shared energy, and a deep commitment to doing work that matters. We call ourselves a family, and that’s not just branding. It’s how we operate. When one person wins, we all win. And when one of us drops the ball? Yep, we own it together, too.
That’s why hiring matters so much. Because it only takes one person, one stinkin’ wrong fit, to throw everything off. Productivity dips. Morale follows. The energy shifts in a way that’s hard to put into words but easy to feel. If you’ve been there, you know.
So I’ve learned not to rush the process. Not to hire the “almost right” person just because they check a few boxes or because we’re tired of looking. We wait for the one who aligns with the job description and our values. Someone who gets US.
And what does that look like? It starts with clarity. We’ve gotten crystal clear on our must-haves and our non-negotiables. Not just in skills, but in attitude. In mindset. We value solution-based thinking. You know, people who come to the table ready to roll up their sleeves, figure it out, and support each other along the way. We don’t need heroes. We need collaborators.
It also means putting culture front and center. In interviews, I care less about perfect resumes and more about curiosity, humility, and a sense of ownership. I want to know: How do you handle conflict? Are you generous with ideas? Can you laugh at yourself and still take the work seriously?
We’re not afraid to ask the hard questions, and we’re okay walking away if something feels off. Reality is… hiring doesn’t just fill a seat. It’s choosing who we’re inviting into the rhythm of our days, our meetings, our wins, and our growth.
And let me tell you, when you find that person? The one who fits like they were always meant to be part of the team? It’s magic. Everything clicks. The work gets better. The energy lifts. That’s the kind of team I want to build.
So if you’re hiring… don’t settle. Your culture deserves more than “good enough.” Keep looking until it feels like home. Remember, at the end of the day, it’s not about finding someone who can do the job. It’s about finding someone who makes the whole team better.
Oh and most importantly, welcome Jessica to the family!
