The Great Balancing Act

In the ever-evolving dance between work and life, KR Squared recently embarked on a bold experiment. About six months back, we introduced half-day Fridays in a bid to give our dedicated team some well-deserved downtime. However, what seemed like a promising solution ended up falling short. Many of our team members found it challenging to disconnect from work once they were in the groove. Sound familiar?

According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, a staggering 46% of U.S. workers who receive paid time off from their employer – whether for vacation, doctor's appointments, or minor illnesses – take less time than they are offered. This statistic sheds light on the pervasive issue of work-life balance in today's society. It's a trend that speaks volumes about the modern-day struggle to find harmony between work and life. At KR Squared, we're determined to challenge this norm and pave the way for a healthier approach to work, where our team members feel empowered to prioritize their well-being without guilt or hesitation. And anyway, we aren’t one to shy away from a challenge.

Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we decided to pivot to a new approach: every other Friday off—maybe if we never even open our laptops we’ll actually be able to disconnect from work. By providing our team with uninterrupted time to recharge, we're hoping to create a more sustainable and fulfilling work environment.

As we embark on this new chapter, we're excited to see how our refreshed approach to work-life balance will unfold. Will it work? Well, we're cautiously optimistic. Stay tuned!
