Permission Granted: Take a Break
We missed you last week.
Not because we forgot (we never do). Not because we didn’t have ideas brewing (we always do). But because, like a lot of you, we were in the thick of it. Full plates, full inboxes, and full calendars. Between launching a few new campaigns, writing decks, and keeping our client leads flowing, we realized the best thing we could do was take our own advice: press pause.
So… we skipped last week’s blog. Not out of neglect. Out of necessity. And honestly? It felt kind of great.
Let’s get one thing straight: rest isn’t the opposite of productivity. It’s part of it. In fact, studies from the University of Illinois found that even short mental breaks can drastically improve focus and performance. One study from Stanford showed that walking breaks, especially the kind where your brain drifts a bit, can boost creative output by up to 60%. That’s not slacking, friends…that’s science. So whether you’re running a company, a household, or a little bit of both, here’s your reminder: skipping a non-mandatory task to catch your breath is not failure. It’s strategy.
In fact, we talk a lot about hustle in our industry. And sure, hustle has its place. But so does margin. Space. A little room to think. If you’re always chasing the next internal thing, you never get to sit with the good things you've already created.
So What Can You Take from This?
Today’s post isn’t just about skipping a blog post (though we recommend it now and then). It’s about challenging the myth that every single moment must be optimized. That showing up is only valuable if you’re producing something. That rest has to be earned.
Here’s the truth: you are allowed to step back before you hit a wall. You’re allowed to recalibrate, take a breath, take a beat, and come back better for it. And when you do, the work tends to be stronger, the ideas sharper, and the energy more real. Trust us, we’re already feeling it.
See you next week.
