Taking Philanthropy Pretty Darn Seriously

When it comes to philanthropy, KR Squared doesn’t just write checks and call it a day, we roll up our sleeves, follow our hearts, and put our money where our values are.

One cause especially close to us? Animals. And If you don’t already know, Katy is a huge horse lover. Always has been. And if you’ve ever seen the heartbreaking reality of abused or neglected horses funneled through the slaughter pipeline, you’d understand why this work matters so deeply to her.

Here are just a few staggering stats:

  • Roughly 75% of slaughter-bound horses are healthy and simply need someone to step in and help.

  • Around 70,000 horses are sitting in kill pens and holding pens across the country right now.

That’s where All Seated in the Barn comes in.

This nonprofit equine rescue, sanctuary, rehabilitation, training, and intake facility has a powerful mission: to rescue horses and donkeys who would otherwise be shipped across the border to be slaughtered for human consumption. They provide critical medical care, rehabilitation, and, most importantly, help these animals find the loving homes they deserve.

What’s even more inspiring is how their work goes beyond just rescue. Through unique community programs, the horses themselves help rehabilitate the people they interact with. Healing goes both ways, and we believe that’s a pretty magical thing.

Yes, KR Squared is proud to financially support All Seated in the Barn, but we didn’t stop there. We took it a step further.

Meet Sally Lee.

Sally is a Haflinger horse who was rescued from an auction thanks to All Seated in the Barn. And now? She’s officially part of our family. Sally spends her days munching on apples, soaking up kisses, and enjoying stunning views of the Sierra Nevada. In Katy’s care, she’ll never know neglect or fear again, only love and security.

Supporting organizations like All Seated in the Barn reminds us that philanthropy isn’t just about donations. It’s about compassion and creating a ripple effect of good. Because when we say we take philanthropy pretty darn seriously, we mean it. Welcome Sally Lee!
